BENEFITS OF ALPACA MANURE
1
Low Odor & Mild Composition
-
It's a "cold" manure, meaning it doesn't need to be composted before use (though composting is still beneficial).
-
Low in ammonia and doesn’t burn plants, unlike "hot" manures like chicken.
2
Rich in Nutrients
-
Contains nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K), along with other micronutrients.
-
Typical NPK values: around 1.5-1.0-1.0, making it well-balanced.
3
Improves Soil Structure
-
Adds organic matter, enhancing water retention, aeration, and microbial activity in soil.
4
Minimal Weed Seeds
-
Alpacas have a highly efficient digestive system that destroys most weed seeds, unlike horse or cow manure.
5
Easy to Handle
-
Comes in small, dry pellets that are easy to collect, store, and spread.

3. Tea Fertilizer:
-
Steep in water to create a liquid fertilizer.
Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to making alpaca manure tea, an excellent organic liquid fertilizer for your garden:

What You’ll Need:
-
2–3 cups of dried alpaca manure pellets
-
5-gallon bucket
-
Water (non-chlorinated is best) – rainwater or well water preferred
-
Stirring stick or old broom handle
-
(Optional) Mesh bag or old pillowcase – acts like a tea bag for easier cleanup
Instructions:
1. Fill the Bucket
-
Add 4 to 5 gallons of water to your bucket.
-
If using chlorinated tap water, let it sit for 24 hours to allow chlorine to evaporate.
2. Add Manure
-
Put 2–3 cups of alpaca manure directly into the water.
-
Or, place the manure inside a mesh bag or pillowcase, then submerge in the water.
3. Steep
-
Let the mixture steep for 24 to 48 hours.
-
Stir occasionally (a few times a day) to help nutrients release.
4. Strain (if needed)
-
If you didn’t use a bag, strain the tea through cheesecloth or a strainer to avoid clogging watering cans or sprayers.
5. Use Immediately
-
Apply the tea to plants at the base (soil drench) or use as a foliar spray.
-
Use within 1–2 days for best microbial activity.
How Often to Use:
-
Once every 7–14 days during the growing season.
-
Great for vegetables, flowers, shrubs, and even houseplants.
